New Bedford Memorial Day parade to conclude with reading of Gettysburg Address
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The New Bedford American Legion post one will conduct a memorial service and procession ahead of the city’s parade.
The American Legion will lead that procession from Seaman’s Bethel, to Veterans Plot at the Rural Cemetery.
The procession begins Monday morning at 8:15 with the service to follow at 10.
The New Bedford Memorial Day Parade will begin gathering on the intersection of Hathaway Boulevard and Parker Street before stepping off at 11:30 a.m.
The parade will head from Parker Street to Clasky Common Park, led by New Bedford-based veteran and this year’s grand marshal, Virginia Senna-Davis.
At Clasky, there will be readings of the Gettysburg Address, Logan’s Orders and a roll call of the veterans New Bedford has lost.
Gathering for the parade begins at 10:30 a.m.
