Brazilian fugitive arrested by ICE, extradited to Brazil

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said agents have removed a 29-year-old Brazilian national from the United States who was wanted out of Brazil.
29-year-old Juliano Araujo Dos Santos was removed from the United States and turned over to Brazil on March 27.
According to ICE, Arajo was convicted of armed robbery with a firearm in a Brazilian court on Oct. 2, 2017, and sentenced to five years and four months in prison.
ICE said after he illegally entered the U.S near El Paso, Texas, U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested Araujo on July 3, 2019. He was issued a notice to appear before an immigration judge.
On Sept. 12, 2024, authorities in Brazil issued a warrant for Araujo’s arrest for failure to serve a sentence after a conviction, according to ICE. He was located in Woonsocket on Jan. 13, 2025, by ICE Boston agents.
Araujo was ordered to be removed from the U.S. to Brazil by a DOJ immigration judge on Feb. 18, and turned over to Brazil on March 27.
