Fall River police release identity of officer arrested for alleged break-in

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Fall River police have identified the officer taken into custody Tuesday night for allegedly breaking into a resident’s home while intoxicated.
Officer David Silvia was taken into custody after police responded to a call of an unknown man banging on a resident’s front door Tuesday morning, asking for a woman by name.
Silvia allegedly forced his way into the house and was told by the resident that the woman he was asking for did not live there, according to Fall River police.
Silvia then left on foot, and arriving officers were told Silvia was heavily intoxicated and “appeared to be confused or mistaken about the location.”
Additional officers located Silvia nearby and said that he “exhibited signs of alcohol intoxication” and he was taken into custody.
A criminal complaint was submitted to the court, and Silvia was arraigned.
