Providence police continue investigation into Sunday night shooting
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Police Department said detectives are investigating after a 22-year-old man was shot Sunday night.
Providence police Chief Oscar Perez said police discovered a 22-year-old victim with gunshot wounds in the area of Branch Avenue and Woodward Road.
He was taken to the hospital by first responders.
The Branch Avenue Plaza Shopping Center and part of Woodward Road was closed off as part of the police investigation.
ABC6 News crews on scene reported seeing at least eight police cruisers and crime scene tape.
The Providence Police Department said officers are actively investigating the shooting.
