New Bedford Police arrest 6 after drug raid

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The New Bedford Police Department said that six people were arrested after a drug raid at a home in the South End.

The following people were arrested and charged:

  • 38-year-old Joshua Hightower – possession to distribute a Class B drug, possession of a Class B drug, and conspiracy to violate the drug law
  • 31-year-old Robert Silva – possession of a Class B drug and possession of ammunition without an FID card
  • 49-year-old Shannon Smith – possession of a Class B drug and conspiracy to violate the drug law
  • 39-year-old Ashley McSween Lim – possession of a Class B drug and conspiracy to violate the drug law
  • 50-year-old Terrence Battle – possession of a Class B drug and conspiracy to violate the drug law, warrant arrest
  • 28-year-old Lijah Fortes – possession of a Class B drug and conspiracy to violate the drug law

The department had been conducting an investigation into an alleged cocaine distribution operation out of a South Street apartment on May 29.

A search warrant for both the apartment and the six suspects allegedly found 16 grams of powdered and crack cocaine, digital scales, packaging material, two rounds of .22 caliber ammo, and $2,302 in cash.
