RIDOH issues overdose spike alert for Johnston, North Providence
NORTH PROFIVDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) –The Rhode Island Department of Health said it issued an overdose spike alert for increased drug overdose activity in Johnston and North Providence.
RIDOH said that Region 4 reached its overdose threshold between May 28 and June 3.

The last time the region experienced an overdose spike was in April 2023.
The department said spike alerts are issued whenever a municipality or region experienced a “higher-than-usual number of non-fatal overdoses” within seven days.
