Read testimony to restart after Friday crash test dummy testimony
DEDHAM, Mass. (WLNE) — Karen Read’s defense team plans to call two additional witnesses to the stand in her retrial Monday.
Testimony resumed Friday, after a weather-related pause, with a defense expert who argued that crash dummy tests show Read’s SUV did not back into John O’Keefe.
Defense witness Daniel Wolfe is an accident reconstructionist with ARCCA.
According to WCVB, Wolfe said he tested a Lexus SUV, crashing into a crash dummy at various speeds.
Wolfe said some tests did damage the tail light, but none matched the extent of damage left on read’s SUV.
The crash dummy also wore similar clothes to O’Keefe’s the night of his death in 2022.
Wolfe said the tail light fragments did not cause any tears in his clothing like the ones O’Keefe had.
The prosecution hammered Wolfe, attempting to undermine his credibility, challenging his testing methods, specifically the weight of the crash test dummy’s arm.
WCVB reports that cellphone expert Richard Green, who testified at Read’s first trial about the timestamp on a Google search, will not return.
