PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)– Workers on strike at Butler Hospital will be holding a candlelight vigil at 8 p.m. on Monday as their strike nears one month.

The vigil, according to a union spokesperson, is intended to show honor for both the patients served by workers and the work that those on strike do on a daily basis.

It is also a response to Butler Hospital management announcing that they would be hiring workers to permanently replace some long-term staff members, with the union titling the vigil “We are Irreplacable.”

The event, organizers say, is open to anyone to attend.
