Wareham: Registered sex offender accused of filming woman over Target fitting room door

WAREHAM, Mass. (WLNE) — Wareham police arrested a registered sex offender Monday for allegedly filming a woman in a Target fitting room.

Gregory Mattos, 37, of Mashpee, Massachusetts is charged with photographing an unsuspecting nude person, according to a statement from the Wareham Police Department.

Officers were called to the Target store on Cranberry Highway Monday for reports of a male recording a female in a fitting room with his cell phone.

According to the victim, the suspect held the phone over the fitting room door while she was changing.

Video surveillance of the suspect was provided to police by the store’s loss prevention staff, and he was observed leaving the parking lot on a moped.

Police conducted a search of the immediate area and observed a male subject on Main Street, identified as Mattos, who matched the description of the suspect in the surveillance footage.

Mattos was arrested without incident.

Mattos is a registered sex offender in Massachusetts and has been involved in similar events in the past, according to Wareham police.

Mattos was released on cash bail and will be arraigned Tuesday at Wareham Fourth District Court.
