COVENTRY, R.I. (WLNE) — The Coventry Police Department said an 18-year-old from Exeter was arrested after he allegedly stole a vehicle and caused a police pursuit across multiple towns on Tuesday.

Jesse Boulais was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, eluding police officers, and resisting arrest.

On June 9, Coventry police were notified that a vehicle had been stolen during the night.

On Tuesday, around 10 a.m., police saw the vehicle near the New London Turnpike in Coventry.

Coventry police said the vehicle allegedly fled and drove to West Warwick, where it was spotted by police.

West Warwick police attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle allegedly fled back to Coventry on the turnpike.

Coventry police said officers laid out spike strips, which were “successfully used” on the vehicle.

The vehicle eventually came to a complete stop on Division Road in West Greenwich, and Boulais allegedly began to flee on foot.

After a short foot pursuit, Boulais was arrested.

Boulais was arraigned and faces charges in both Coventry and West Warwick.
