Pawtucket officer involved in weekend shooting identified by department

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Pawtucket police have now publicly identified the officer-involved in a shooting over the weekend.

Thomas Letourneau was the officer who fired shots at a 28-year-old man on Sunday morning.

According to Pawtucket police, they responded to a man later identified as Sebastian Yidana pointing a gun at himself and others.

Officer Letourneau then shot Yidana in the shoulder.

Their investigation revealed Yidana was holding a plastic replica gun.

Yidana now faces charges for disorderly conduct and felony assault.

The state attorney general’s office and Rhode Island State Police are continuing their investigation.
