Conn. high school student in ICE custody honored by classmates
MERIDEN, Conn. (WLNE) — About 100 students from Meriden High School honored a fellow student who wasn’t able to walk during this week’s graduation ceremonies after he was detained by ICE.
The student identified as Kevin has been held at an ICE facility in Texas since last week.
He was with his father last week at a scheduled immigration court hearing in Hartford when they were both taken into ICE custody.
The board of education says it recognizes Kevin as a graduate and hopes to one day hand him his diploma in a special ceremony.
