Guatemalan national indicted in Rhode Island for alleged illegal re-entry

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Guatemalan national deported from the United States in 2004 has been indicted in Rhode Island on a charge of illegal re-entry, according to Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom.

Marco Tulio Gonzales Cahueque aka Santos Israel Ortiz Cahueque, 48, was arrested in Rhode Island in December of 2024 for an alleged DUI.

Through an automated biometric fingerprint match, ICE was alerted to his presence in the U.S., and he was arrested by agents on June 3.

Cahueque had been deported from the U.S. in May of 2004.
