Middletown residents say memorial field may be moved

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — A rally in Middletown were residents voice their support to prevent a local field from being relocated.
Organizer’s said the town council made an agreement with redevelopers to turn Pottsy Field into a town center.
The field was named after Chrisopter Potts who was a Tiverton soldier in the National Guard.
Potts was 38-years-old when he was killed in Iraq.
Organizers said the field that the town council is now looking to relocate was given to Middletown in perpetuity, and that it couldn’t be sold or leased.
Advocates also said they are looking forward to public town council meetings where they could raise their concerns.
ABC 6 has reached out to the Middletown town council for comment on the matter and are waiting to hear back.
