Rhode Island firefighters welcome ‘state-of-the-art’ support truck
LINCOLN, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island officials and firefighters celebrated the state’s new “state-of-the-art” support truck.
The new regional air/light unit will help firefighters in 13 communities across northern Rhode Island to “safely and effectively respond to a wide range of emergencies,” as well as supply the tools and equipment needed to respond to dangerous situations.
According to a spokesperson for Senator Reed, the unit will help refill air cylinders and offer enhanced lighting to help on scene.
The new addition was funded by a $586,363 federal grant and a $50,000 legislative grant from the Rhode Island House of Representatives.
The truck replaces the previous shared vehicle that was used for over 40 years with over 300,000 miles.
