GROTON, Conn. (WLNE) — The Groton Police Department said that the second suspect in a bank robbery investigation has died from his injuries.

According to Connecticut station WTNH, police said 56-year-old Shaun Fallon, of Charlestown, R.I., died at the hospital on June 16.

The other suspect, 27-year-old Zachary Fallon, of Charlestown, R.I., died in the early morning of June 13, according to Groton police.

On June 12, police responded to the Chelsea Groton Bank for a reported bank robbery around 10:30 a.m.

Two suspects allegedly said they had a weapon and passed a note to a teller demanding cash before fleeing the scene.

The department said that a subsequent investigation found the vehicle the suspects fled in at a motel on Route 12 around 5 p.m.

Police alleged that the two men told responding police that they had firearms and explosives and would not surrender from their motel room.

The motel and surrounding buildings were then evacuated, and around 11 p.m. police said they heard gunshots from within the motel room.

The two suspects were found suffering from gunshot wounds, and they were transported to the hospital, where they both succumbed to their injuries.

No explosive device was found.
