Providence Police investigating stabbing

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Police Department said detectives are investigating after a stabbing on Amherst Street on June 21.

Officers responded to the area around 11 p.m. for a report of a stabbing.

At the scene police found a man with a stab wound, and first responders began to treat him.

The man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

ABC6 News crews were on scene Sunday night and reported that Amherst Street was blocked off during the initial police investigation.

The stabbing remains under investigation.
