Providence, East Providence opening cooling centers due to extreme heat

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The National Weather Service has declared an extreme heat warning from June 23 to June 25.

In response, the City of Providence and the City of East Providence has opened cooling centers for residents.

The following centers are open:

  • Providence, R.I. Cooling Centers
    • Providence Rescue Mission, 627 Cranston St.
      • Open 24/7 during high heat conditions
    • Crossroads, 162 Broad St.
      • Open 24/7 during high heat conditions
    • Emmanuel House, 239 Public St.
      • Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    • Federal Hill House, 9 Courtland St.
      • Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Providence libraries open as cooling centers
