Matos confirmation hearing set for Thursday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- The Senate Judiciary Committee is set to meet on Thursday for the confirmation hearing for the state’s next lieutenant governor.

On Monday, Governor Dan McKee submitted a letter of appointment for Sabina Matos as the Rhode Island’s next lieutenant governor.

Rhode Island Senate spokesperson Greg Pare said Matos’s confirmation hearing is scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday.

McKee nominated Matos for the second-in-command position last week. 

If confirmed, Matos will be the state’s first person of color and second woman to serve in the lieutenant governor position.
