Crews find body of missing swimmer at Lincoln Woods, RIDEM says
LINCOLN, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management said crews have found the body of a swimmer who was reported missing at Lincoln Woods State Park Tuesday.
The body was found around 8:10 p.m., RIDEM said.
RIDEM said it received a call around 6 p.m. reporting a missing swimmer near Sunset Cove outside the swim and lifeguard area.
Two RIDEM Department of Law Enforcement officers began searching for the swimmer five minutes after he was last seen.
RIDEM said visibility was extremely poor when searching for the man.
Officials said the swimmer is believed to be a 22 or 23-year-old Hispanic man.
RIDEM DLE, Lincoln Police, Lincoln Fire Department Dive Team, and Rhode Island State Police responded to the scene.
Police continue to investigate.
