Driver arrested after car smashes into Fall River daycare center

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — The driver who police say crashed into a daycare in Fall River early Thursday morning is now facing charges.

41-year-old Eric Brasidio was arrested.

Police charged Brasidio with operating under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of property damage, and a marked lanes violation.

Police were called to KinderCare on North Main Street at 12:40 a.m. Thursday.

According to a police statement, Brasidio was found seated inside his car after officers were called to the crash.

Nobody was inside the building at the time.

Police said Brasidio had first hit a fire hydrant, blew out a tire, and then drove on the rim until he crashed at the daycare.

Brasidio failed field sobriety tests at the scene, police said.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment before being taken to the Fall River Police Department for booking.

The daycare is temporarily closed.
