Taunton Fire Department reminds public fireworks are illegal in Massachusetts
TAUNTON, Mass. (WLNE) — The Taunton Fire Department said that residents should remember that recreational use of fireworks is illegal in Massachusetts.
The department said that, since 2019, 550 fires and explosions involving illegal fireworks occurred, resulting in almost $1 million in damages and more than 200 people suffering from severe burns.
Fines for illegal firework use in the state ranger from 100 to $1,000, and can carry a one-year prison sentence.
