Scattered Showers and Storms This Morning
Some more rain/thunder possible late tonight
Good morning!
We had a warm front move in overnight and are waking up to some showers and a few rumbles of thunder across the South Coast this morning as a result. These showers should be gone for the most part by 9am. The warm front also increased our humidity quite a bit – dewpoints are now up in the 70s and this is leading to some fog across the region. We have a dense fog advisory in place until 8am for Washington, Kent, and Newport counties, as well as the southern portion of Bristol County, MA, so be sure to use caution if you’re an early commuter.
Much of this afternoon will be dry with a mix of clouds and sunshine, with high temperatures in the mid 80s. With dewpoints in the 70s, humidity is a factor and it will feel like “air you can wear” for much of the day today. It will also be a bit cooler along the coast with a gusty wind out of the south. We have a chance for an isolated shower/storm this afternoon, but the bulk of the strong/severe storms this evening will stay to the North of us.
As the cold front nears late tonight, expect showers and a few rumbles of thunder overnight. This cold front is slow moving and I think we will still wake up to some shower activity and maybe an isolated thunderstorm Wednesday morning, but we should be cleared out by midday. Just in time for the Independence Day fireworks celebration in Providence Wednesday evening!
If you have any outdoor plans for the holiday weekend, the weather is looking great. Highs will be in the low-to-mid 80s with lots of sunshine. Humidity will be low initially on Friday, but increasing as we head toward Sunday.
Have a great Tuesday!
