Declaration of Independence reading draws crowd at Colony House in Newport

NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) — The Newport Historical Society is honoring the 4th of July by reading of the Declaration of Independence.

People gathered at the front steps of the Colony House to hear the reading.

The colony house is the fourth oldest statehouse in the country, and it will be open for self-guided tours Friday afternoon.
