Hot and humid today, unsettled week ahead
Feeling like the 90s today, feeling close to 100 tomorrow
Good morning!
Today is shaping up to be a hot and humid one – we’re talking high temperatures in the mid 80s, but when you add in the tropical moisture we have in place, it’ll feel more like the 90s. This will also give way to a few isolated showers/storms later on this afternoon. Not everyone will see them and they won’t be widespread, but it’s worth a mention because any showers that do form could lead to some brief downpours. Clouds will hang tough along the South Coast today, but farther away from the coastline, you may see some peeks of sunshine. We do have a heat advisory in effect for Kent and Providence counties as well as the northern portion of Bristol County, MA until 8p tonight – be sure to take any heat precautions you may need throughout the day.
Showers will continue overnight tonight as the Cape and the Islands get a brush from the remnants of Tropical Depression Chantal. Those remnants should be cleared out by tomorrow morning.
Tomorrow is off to another hot and humid start, and heat index values will be close to the triple digits by the afternoon. A cold front rolls through in the afternoon and this will bring a stronger chance of showers and storms – although we have a chance for showers or storms every day this week, I think tomorrow afternoon is the highest chance of seeing any strong-to-severe storms.
As we head into the back half of the week the unsettled trend of showers and storms continues, but it will be noticeably cooler and less humid.
Have a great week!
