Severe thunderstorm outages continued into weekend, power mostly restored across RI

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Thousands of Rhode Islanders were dealing with the aftermath of Thursday’s severe storms well into the weekend.

ABC6 Anchor Karah Bailey spoke with RI Energy President Greg Cornett on Friday who set this expectation for restoration.

And, although many residents are still picking up the pieces of debris and downed trees left behind and clean up efforts are still underway four days later, a check of RI Energy’s outage map Monday morning found fewer than 20 customers remain without power.

That’s down from as many as 65,000 at the height of the storm.

The outage map has since been restored from its own series of technical difficulties.

If you have any remaining power outages, you’re encouraged to contact RI Energy for assistance.
