New Bedford mayor opening new city field Friday

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — City officials in New Bedford are preparing to celebrate the opening of a new field complex that Mayor Jon Mitchell said had been “transformed” on Friday morning.

The project to renovate Dias Field was announced last September.

As part of the renovations, Dias Field will now have a new, state-of-the-art soccer field and facility, in addition to new bleachers.

Friday’s ribbon-cutting is set for 11 a.m.
