Morales says Providence police, ICE ‘violently raided’ city home, mayor’s office disputes claim
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Officials at Providence City Hall are hoping to set the record straight about the Providence Police Department’s involvement in an Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation in the city.
ICE officials were seen conducting an arrest on Alverson Avenue Sunday afternoon.
This caught the attention of state representative David Morales, who took to Twitter, writing “Providence police and ICE violently raided a family’s home and detained one of our neighbors. This is unacceptable.”

The mayor’s office is confirming Providence police responded to Alverson Avenue Sunday saying, “Officers responded to a report of ‘multiple vehicle accidents’ that involved ICE agents.”
The mayor’s office added, while officers stayed on scene to document the accident, the individual, wanted by ICE, turned himself in.
The office also said that according to protocol, Providence police did not assist ICE.
ABC6 was then referred to the Department of Homeland Security for further information.
