Showers/Storms Possible This Afternoon
Heat advisory until 7p tonight... tomorrow is much more comfortable
Happy Thursday!
Today is the last day of this week’s oppressive heat/humidity, and we have some relief on the way soon. Nonetheless, expect heat index values today to be similar to what we saw yesterday – in the mid 90s for most of us. The heat advisory we’ve had the last few days remains in effect until 7pm tonight.
This afternoon, the heat will give way to a chance for some showers/storms. We’re thinking there will be two rounds possible – the first round is around lunchtime (12p – 2p). This is the round that I think has the best chance of bringing some heavy rain and thunderstorms to Southern New England, but they will be hit-or-miss. The second round is late tonight, around 8-10pm. This will likely just be a few showers or rumbles of thunder.
Overnight tonight, we shift to a northerly wind and things become MUCH more comfortable quickly! Tomorrow, dewpoints will be 10-15 degrees lower and air temperatures will be in the low-to-mid 80s, making for a great afternoon. Much of the same story for Saturday as well with lots of sunshine in the mix both days.
Sunday is a bit of a different story, remaining unsettled throughout the day. We have a warm front that lifts in through the morning, bringing showers and a muggy feel, but then a cold front through the afternoon brings a second round of showers and storms. Once this second front passes, we have a comfortable and calm start to next week.
Have a great day!
