Annual Smokey Bear Parade steps off in Westerly tonight
WESTERLY, R.I. (WLNE) — Thursday in South County the annual Smokey Bear Parade will march through several towns.
The traditional parade advocates for fire safety, and also commemorates Karl E. Kenyon, the former deputy chief of Dunn’s Corners Fire Department in Westerly, and father of the current fire chief, Keith.
The parade will feature Smokey the Bear, and will be making a series of stops after it leaves the Westerly Station at 5 tonight.
The parade steps off in Westerly at 5, and makes its way down route 1 north to Charlestown, the Misquamicut Fire
Department, and Watch Hill before ending at 8 tonight.
