UPDATE: Woman named as tenth victim to die from Gabriel House fire still in critical condition, miscommunication cited
FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — A woman who was reported to have died from injuries sustained in Sunday’s Gabriel House assisted living fire is still in critical condition, according to a statement issued by the Bristol County District Attorney’s office.
Brenda Cropper, 66, was initially reported to have succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday night, according to a Thursday statement from Jennifer Sowa at the Bristol County District Attorney’s office.
The Thursday statement also attributed this report to District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III himself.
Friday’s corrective statement on this matter reads in full:
Please be advised that due to a miscommunication with a medical agency, the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office reported the passing of Brenda Cropper as a result of the Gabriel Assisted Living Center Fire. Ms. Cropper remains in critical condition at this time. The BCDAO has been in contact with Ms. Cropper’s family regarding this matter. We will provide updates when they become available.
