Woonsocket man arrested after armed robbery in Dartmouth

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE) — The Dartmouth Police Department said a Woonsocket man was arrested after he allegedly threatened employees with a knife and robbed a smoke shop on July 18.

40-year-old Muhammad Sheikh, of Woonsocket, will be charged with armed robbery, assault with a dangerous weapon, threat to commit a crime (murder), assault and battery, malicious destruction of property, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

Police responded to King Smoke Shop on State Road around 6:15 p.m. for an armed robbery.

According to Dartmouth police, Sheikh allegedly threatened employees and made “verbal threats to kill them while slashing the knife towards them.”

He then allegedly stole $700 from the register and drove off.

Police immediately issued a BOLO alert for Sheikh’s car, and Providence police found the suspect’s vehicle in the city, where he was arrested.
