Police outline traffic pattern changes ahead of Newport Folk Festival

NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) — The Newport Police Department said that traffic pattern changes would be in effect during the Newport Folk Festival from July 25 to July 27.

The department said that the northbound lane of Harrison Avenue between the Fort Adams entrance to the intersection of Beacon Hill Road at Harrison Avenue will be closed to all motor vehicle traffic starting at 8 a.m. and ending around 9 p.m. each day.

Bicycle traffic will still be allowed in the northbound lane.

Police said that vehicles travelling to the southern end past Fort Adams should take Ocean Avenue from Bellevue Avenue.

There is also heavy traffic expected in the area of Fort Adams, Harrison Avenue, Ruggles Avenue, Bellevue Avenue, Narragansett Avenue, Coggeshall Avenue, Annandale Road, Memorial Boulevard and in the downtown area.
