Connecticut attorney agrees to surrender law license after lying to corrections officers
CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WLNE) — Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom said that a Connecticut attorney agreed to surrender his license to practice law after admitting he gave false statements to corrections officers at Donald W. Wyatt Detention Center in order to visit with clients.
75-year-old Attorney Jonathan Einhorn was accused of willfully and knowingly making a materially false, fictitious, and fraudulent statement and representation in a matter within the jurisdiction of the executive branch of the Government of the United States.
Bloom said that Einhorn admitted there was sufficient evidence to convict him of violating federal law and that he agreed to not seek to renew his license for 10 years.
On May 21, 2023, Einhorn visited with clients and signed and dated a document “certifying that he was aware that it is unlawful to bring weapons or contraband of any type into the facility and/or to pass the same to any detainee.”
He was then seen passing paperwork to at least two clients.
Bloom said that the paperwork was confiscated and sent to an FBI Laboratory for testing, which found it to be contaminated with synthetic cannabinoids,
