Heat Wave Starts Monday

The heat is on to start the workweek and a Heat Advisory is set to go into effect from 11am Monday through 8pm Wednesday. In this Advisory window of time we are at an elevated risk of heat related illness. You are advised to drink plenty of water, avoid being outside during the time of peak heating and sun- from 10 and to 3 pm, do not leave pets or kids in a hot car for even a second, check in on your elderly friends, neighbors and relatives to make sure they’re handling the heat, and don’t forget your pets. Be sure to leave out plenty of fresh cool water and avoid walking your dog on hot pavement. As for the weather, after some Monday morning patchy fog, expect tons of sunshine and high temperatures near 80 along the coast and in the lower-90s inland. With the high humidity, it will feel as hot as 96 inland and 85 at the beaches. Tuesday is going to be pretty similar with morning fog clearing to sunshine, oppressive humidity, and high temperatures in the 90s. Tuesday will be even hotter with inland highs near 96 and feel0like temperatures near 100. Wednesday becomes rinse and repeat with morning fog clearing to sun, highs in the lower-90s, and feel like temps near 100. A cold front puts an end to the heat trend with showers and the chance of thunderstorms for Thursday. It will be mo0stly cloudy as well with temperatures much cooler near 80. Friday is shaping up to be mostly sunny with the slightest chance of a leftover shower and highs near 76. Next weekend is shaping u p to be superlative with sunny skies both Saturday and Sunday and highs of 80-85.
