ABC6 STORMTRACKER WEATHER: Extreme heat finally breaks for a much cooler Thursday
Showers move in later this afternoon, intensifying overnight
Good morning!
Yesterday’s weather could not be more different from today’s forecast – and it’s all thanks to a cold front we have rolling through. Temperatures are hanging out in the mid-to-upper 70s this morning, and they will actually slowly decrease throughout the day to the upper 60s and low 70s by this evening. Clouds will dominate throughout the day, with the chance for a few showers increasing this afternoon and into this evening.
The real heavy rain arrives overnight tonight and sticks around into very early tomorrow morning. Early indications are that the heaviest rain will be to our north and west, where 1.5-3″ is possible. Current thinking is that most of us will see an inch or less of rainfall but this could change if the some of the rain bands shift south a bit. It looks like rain showers clear out as we head into tomorrow afternoon – tomorrow will also be even cooler, with temperatures in the 60s to just around 70.
There’s a lot of events happening this weekend – from the Feast of the Blessed Sacrament in New Bedford to the Charlestown Seafood Festival, and after we clear out tomorrow afternoon, the weekend is looking great. Lots of sunshine for Saturday and Sunday, with temperatures in the upper 70s and low 80s.
Have a great day!
