Air Quality Alert in effect through midnight tonight

Good morning!

If you were to put an image of a perfect summer week in your mind, I’m pretty sure it would look like this. Sunshine abounds for the week ahead, with little-to-no rain chances through the workweek and all the way through the weekend.

This afternoon, temperatures will climb into the upper 80s inland and lower 80s along the coastline. Sunshine today will have a bit of a smoky haze to it thanks to some Canadian wildfire smoke moving in. There is an Air Quality Alert in effect for all of Southern New England until midnight tonight, as some of this smoke could lead to air quality that is unhealthy for sensitive populations (think those with asthma or other respiratory issues).

Tomorrow will be slightly cooler with lots of sunshine as well. There is the chance of a spot shower in the afternoon inland, but most of us will stay dry. If you do see a shower, it wouldn’t be longer than 10-15min, so I definitely wouldn’t cancel any plans tomorrow afternoon – it’s still looking fantastic with low humidity.

The rest of the week looks dry with a mix of clouds and sunshine, and temperatures in the low 80s. I hope you have a chance to get outside and enjoy this week’s beautiful weather!
