Smoky haze lingers today

Air quality should be better today as smoke stays in upper levels

Good morning!

The smoky haze we saw yesterday will linger in our area through much of today, although it will slowly begin to dissipate later on. A weak cold front that moves through will help to mix some of the smoke away from the surface, so air quality improves today and I think the smoke will be less noticeable this afternoon. In contrast to yesterday, clouds dominate this afternoon with high temperatures in the low 80s. Winds will be out of the northeast, so this inland breeze will keep things around 80 along the South Coast as well.

There is the chance of an isolated shower this afternoon as the front moves through – these chances are higher to our west in Connecticut and through the Berkshires, but one or two of these could hang on long enough and make it to us. I think most of us will ultimately stay dry.

That’s really the only chance for rain we have for the rest of the 7 day forecast! We turn mostly sunny and a little bit warmer as we head toward the weekend.

Have a great day!
