Candidates vie for Ruggerio’s seat in North Providence special election

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — North Providence residents in the fourth senate district in the state will head to the polls and vote for their choice to replace the late Dominick Ruggerio today.

North Providence city councilman Stefano Famiglietti is representing the Democratic party, while attorney Alex Asermely represents the Republican party.

Ruggerio died in April after a battle with cancer at the age of 76.

Polls will be open at 7 in the morning until 8 at night.
