Lincoln Fire Marshal arrested for alleged possession of child sexual abuse material
LINCOLN, R.I. (WLNE) — The United States District Attorney’s Office for Massachusetts said that the fire marshal for the town of Lincoln was arrested for allegedly receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material and sending or attempting to send obscene material to minors.
41-year-old Jeffrey Almond was charged with one count of receipt of child pornography, one count of possession of child pornography, and two counts of attempted transfer of obscene material to a minor.
The office alleged that Almond tried to engage in sexual conversations and send obscene materials to what he thought were minors but were actually undercover officers.
He also allegedly spoke to what he believed was the parent of a minor he was setting up a time to have sex with, but was again an officer.
The alleged incidents occurred between February and November 2024.
The Town of Lincoln released a statement on the arrest, and said that the town’s fire districts were separate from the town government and Almond was not a town employee, but the district did place him on administrative leave:
The Town of Lincoln was made aware of the arrest of Lincoln Fire Marshal Jeffery Almond on serious federal charges. These allegations are deeply disturbing and in no way reflect the values or standards of our community or our public safety personnel.
The Lincoln Fire Department, where Almond is currently employed, is not a town agency, but is a separate and autonomous fire district.
Upon learning of the serious nature of the pending charges, town officials contacted the Lincoln Fire Chief Rob Fisher and the Fire District Legal Counsel Lou DeSimone.
Effective immediately, Mr. Almond has been placed on administrative leave from his duties with the Lincoln Fire Department pending the outcome of the judicial process.
While Mr. Almond is entitled to due process under the law, our highest priority remains the safety and trust of the residents of Lincoln. We recognize the seriousness of these charges and will take all appropriate measures to ensure the integrity of our public institutions.
