Newport arrest of Rhode Island special assistant attorney general under review by Neronha
NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) — Newport police have released body cam footage of a Rhode Island assistant attorney general and her friend being arrested for trespassing.
Devon Flanagan, special assistant attorney general with AG Neronha’s office, is now facing charges of trespassing, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Police arrested Flanagan and her friend, Veronica Hannan, after staff at Clarke Cook House restaurant asked them to leave 13 times, and Flanagan and her friends refused.
Once Flanagan was in handcuffs in the back of the police cruiser, she can be seen on video kicking the cruiser’s door to prevent it from being shut.
The AG’s office says it is reviewing the incident.
A spokesperson tells ABC6 news, Flanagan has worked for the office for seven years and is part of the Appellate Unit of the Criminal Division.
