Rehoboth man arrested in connection to missing pregnant teen

REHOBOTH, Mass. (WLNE) — A Rehoboth man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted 18-year-old Kylee Monteiro, a missing pregnant teen, on Aug. 6, according to the Bristol County District Attorney.

22-year-old Gregory Groom, of Rehoboth, was charged with aggravated assault and battery on a pregnant person, domestic assault and battery, and intimidation of a witness.

According to the district attorney’s office, Groom allegedly assaulted Kylee Monteiro nearly two weeks ago on County Street in Rehoboth.

Monteiro was reported missing the next day on Aug. 7 and last seen in the area of County Street, according to Rehoboth police.

Monteiro’s sister said she was three months pregnant when she went missing.

Rehoboth police were spotted searching the area of County Street last Tuesday, before larger-scale search the next day.

There is still no word on Monteiro’s whereabouts.

ABC6 News crews saw police carrying multiple evidence bags out of Groom’s residence Tuesday night.

Groom is being held without bail and is set to be arraigned in Taunton District Court on Wednesday, Aug. 20.

Massachusetts State Police, the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, and Rehoboth police are continuing their investigate.
