McKee to sign paid family leave program extension into law

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Today, Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee will ceremonially sign an extension on the state’s paid family leave program.

Family leave is paid through the Temporary Caregiver Insurance Program.

Under the law, the TCI’s wage replacement rates rise 10 percent to 70 percent starting in January 2027, followed by 75 percent in January 2028.

It’s currently at 60 percent.

The increase will be funded through an increase of the payroll contribution cap.

It won’t impact the state budget.

That ceremonial signing is at 11:30 a.m.
