Maine man charged in two separate Massachusetts shootings on same night, one of pregnant woman
CARVER, Mass. (WLNE) — A Maine man is charged in connection with two separate shootings on the same night in different Massachusetts towns.
Anthony A. Delman, 37, is charged in the August 13 shooting of a pregnant woman at a Carver pond, and is currently in custody in connection with a separate shooting incident in Dennis later the same night.
This is according to the Carver Police Department and Dennis Police Department, respectively.
Delman, of Fryeburg, Maine, is facing numerous charges in the Carver incident, including armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a pregnant victim and others according to Carver PD.
In the Dennis shooting incident, Delman is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, discharge of a firearm within 500 feet of a building and other charges according to Dennis PD.
According to Carver Police Department Chief Marc Duphily, the victim in the night’s earlier incident arrived at the Carver police station at approximately 7:37 p.m. to report that she had been shot at Sampson Pond.
Police saw that the victim had what appeared to be a gunshot wound to her leg, and she was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries
Delman was identified as the suspect following a Carver PD investigation, and a warrant was issued for his arrest on Wednesday, according to Chief Duphily.
Delman is currently in custody, accused in connection with a separate shooting incident in Dennis that occurred later on the same night as the Carver incident, according to Chief Duphily.
Delman will be arraigned in Wareham District Court on the Carver charges on a later date.
According to a Facebook post from the Dennis Police Department, on August 13 at approximately 9:05 p.m., a 911 call was received reporting a loud bang and a male subject crying and limping in the Pier 134 Commons parking lot.
Arriving officers were informed that a male victim had been shot in the leg and was being transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to Dennis Police Department Sergeant Ryan Carr, the investigation revealed that the shooting was intentional and that the victim was allegedly shot by a relative.
Delman was arrested by Dennis PD detectives on August 14 at approximately 4:45 p.m. in connection with the shooting.
The arrest was made with the assistance of the Harwich Police Department and the Regional Cape and Islands SWAT team.
Delman was arraigned in Orleans District Court on the Dennis shooting charges on August 15 and was being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing that occurred on August 19.
Police have not announced if the incidents are connected.
