DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE) — An East Freetown woman died from injuries sustained in an August 23 single-vehicle crash on Route 195 East in Dartmouth.

Crystal Mullens, 36, was pronounced deceased at an area hospital after her Chevrolet Cruze was found with catastrophic damage at the scene of the incident, according to Jennifer Sowa, Deputy District Attorney at the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.

Massachusetts state troopers responded to a 911 call of a vehicle in the woods at approximately 3 a.m. Saturday on 195 East.

Arriving troopers found the Cruze had struck a tree in a wooded area beyond the right breakdown lane.

Mullens was found in the driver’s seat of the vehicle with significant injuries and she was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

An adult male passenger in the vehicle was located at the scene and was not injured, according to Sowa.

The incident is under investigation by Massachusetts State Police and state police detectives assigned to the Bristol County DA’s office.
