Local leaders mourns lives lost in Minnesota shooting

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE)– The Diocese of Fall River is among local groups offering condolences following a shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minnesota that killed two students and injured 17 people.
“What should have been a joyful celebration for Catholic school students to begin a new school year has become the latest tragedy that we struggle to comprehend,” Bishop Edgar da Cunha said. “Together with Catholics across the Diocese of Fall River, I mourn the innocent lives lost and pray for healing for all those affected– students, families, educators and the entire community.”
The Diocese of Providence also released a statement on the shooting, writing on Facebook “Bishop Lewandowski invites us all to keep the Annunciation School community in our prayers, and encourages our school leaders to lean on the Lord and one another for strength.”
