Judge Caprio memorial service begins in Providence Thursday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Today, Providence will begin paying their final respects to the world’s nicest judge as the funeral for the beloved Judge Frank Caprio begins.

Public visitation hours for Judge Caprio’s memorial service will be at the Rhode Island Convention Center Hall A Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m.

Judge Caprio’s funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in Providence.

We’ve learned the funeral procession will have a large number of honorary pallbearers, that include local politicians and notable figures like Johnston Mayor Joseph Polisena, Jr. and former Newport Mayor Xaykham Rexford Khamsyvoravong, former PC basketball players Ernie Digregorio and Kevin Statcom and even Paula Abdul.

Abdul once appeared on Caprio’s show “Caught in Providence” and was a friend.

Judge Caprio died last Wednesday after a long battle with cancer.

He was 88 years old.

The Providence Place Mall said it will waive parking fees and open up the garage from 3 p.m. through 8 p.m. Thursday.

The Rhode Island Convention Center will have complimentary three-hour parking in the North Garage.
