Twin red pandas born at Roger Williams Park Zoo

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Roger Williams Park Zoo celebrated the birth of twin red pandas.

According to the zoo, the red panda kits were born on July 4 and mark the “first successful birth of red panda kits in the Zoo’s history.”

Roger Williams Park Zoo said red pandas are endangered and the birth of the kits goes towards “ensuring a safe future for this remarkable species.”

The red pandas are part of RWPZ’s Species Survival Plan, which protects at-risk wildlife.

The kits, one boy and one girl, will stay with their mom for several weeks before the public is able to see them at the Zoo.
