McKee to sign state-wide school bus video camera bill
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Today, Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee will ceremonially sign the bill requiring new school buses in the state to be equipped with video cameras.
The bill was already approved and made law.
Providence, North Providence, Warwick and Cumberland already have camera systems installed.
Under the law, all districts are required to have stop-arm cameras by 2032.
Drivers caught illegally passing a bus face fines ranging from $250 to $500.
The governor will discuss the law this morning at 10:30 at Pleasant View Elementary School in Smithfield.
