Providence Police say 5 hospitalized after car crashes into RIPTA bus

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Police Department said five people were taken to the hospital after a car struck a Rhode Island Public Transit Authority bus on Tuesday.

Officers responded to Charles Street for a crash involving a car and a RIPTA bus holding 12 students.

Initial investigation showed the driver of the car “failed to yield and struck the bus,” police said.

The bus driver, three students, and the driver of the car were taken to the hospital.

The driver of the car was cited, police said.
